Undergraduate Student Opportunities

Dr. Mackey accepts applications from undergraduate students to gain experience in the lab through volunteer positions, undergraduate student research awards (USRA), Co-op education placements, and directed studies and honour’s courses.

Volunteer

Undergraduate student volunteers have been involved in past studies with intervention delivery, data collection, and data entry. Volunteer opportunities in the lab arise from time to time. Check back here often for specific opportunities.

USRA

Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRAs) are full-time positions for one semester that are jointly funded by Dr. Mackey and another funding source (e.g., NSERC, the SFU Vice President of Research, etc.). These are competitive positions with an annual application process. Dr. Mackey will advertise any available USRA positions for the upcoming Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters by early January of each year through the BPK Co-op office.

Co-op

When available, Co-op positions in the lab are posted through the Co-op office. These are typically full-time positions for one or two semesters.

Directed Studies and Honour’s Thesis

Dr. Mackey is sometimes available to supervise directed studies courses (BPK 496 and 498) and honour’s theses (BPK 491, 495, 499). Email her at dmackey@sfu.ca two to three months in advance of the semester in which you wish to enroll.
