The APHL had the pleasure of attending the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) 2026 annual meeting in Cadiz, Spain to deliver a symposium titled, “A New Core Outcome Set for Randomized Controlled Trials of Physical Activity Interventions that Aim to Improve the Health of Older Adults.”
Dawn, Peter, and Sarra presented the four major phases of developing the core outcome set.
Dawn presented Phase 1 (Knowledge Synthesis), which was a rapid review of the literature to identify which outcome domains have been measured in previously published RCTs of PA interventions that aim to improve the health of older adults.
Peter presented Phases 2 & 3 (Knowledge User Perceptions), where we conducted semi-structured interviews with older adults and an online survey of health care professionals to understand their outcome priorities for future RCTs.
Sarra presented Phase 4 (Consensus Generation), which was an online, 3-round, modified Delphi survey of a multidisciplinary, international, expert panel comprised of researchers, health care professionals, and older adults to generate consensus about which outcome domains to include in the core outcome set.
